Thank you to all 44 people and the one dog that came along to help us tidy up the village today! And also thank you to Sharon Harding, the Brownies, Guides and Rainbows for their cakes. And the merry band of peeps who set up and took down the gazebo. I think you'll all agree it's been a successful haul?! #GBSPRINGCLEAN#greatbritishspringclean#wiltshire#villagelife
Acreshort Community Park features in the Wiltshire Times.
Please note that we haven't secured ALL funding - we are still very much seeking more funding and will be sending out sponsorship packs for local companies in the very near future!
Should you see posters that are out of date, please do not hesitate to remove them, along with any of the annoying little paper corners that are left too! Please leave alone any posters that are still in date and legible. If you are unsure, then please contact us on Facebook or via the Clerk's email address or telephone and we will send a Parish Councillor to have a look. The more residents that join in, the tidier things will be - the Parish Council are but few!

Steeple Ashton Parish Council Election – 4 May 2017
A message from the Candidates
The current term of your Parish Council ends in May this year and because there are thirteen candidates and only nine seats, an election is required. The election will be held on Thursday 4 May 2017, alongside Wiltshire Council Unitary Elections. All candidates have worked together with an independent co-ordinator to produce this short information sheet so that you are aware of who is standing and their background. The aim is try to avoid overloading you with separate information sheets. However, this does not prevent any of the candidates supplying you with more information, should they wish to do so. The candidates are listed in alphabetical order and you will have the opportunity to vote for up to NINE candidates on the ballot paper. We hope that you will find this information useful. Please feel free to contact any candidate individually should you need more information from them.
The Parish Council have submitted the Acreshort Lane Project to Aviva's Community Funding campaign. If we are successful, then we could receive up to £10,000 which can be put towards the development of the area.
The Parish Council currently have £8,000 set aside for the scheme, but in order to develop the site fully for the benefit of the whole community, we need nearer to £30,000; play and fitness equipment and it's installation doesn't come cheap.
The Aviva Community Fund gives us the opportunity to get the community involved in the voting process and if we get enough votes, hopefully we stand a chance of receiving some money.
Please can you take the time to register using the link below; you will then be given 10 votes which you can use across any of the schemes in the campaign, or hopefully (!) use ALL 10 VOTES on the Steeple Ashton project.
Please use the link below to vote and please forward this email onto any friends and family so they can cast their votes or even register more than one email address.
THE MORE VOTES WE GET, THE MORE CHANCE WE HAVE OF SECURING FUNDING!

November 2016 Newsletter
November is the start of EX WESSEX STORM, 1-20 Nov, with 4 SCOTS, a mechanized BG. They will be exercising from Warminster West to Tidworth East conduction challenging operations. There are also infantry company and armoured squadrons excercising at varying times during the month: a very busy time on the plain.
Safety is all important. There is live firing from all weapon systems including AS90 from 19 Regiment, Royal Artillery and various infantry sections of mortars. It should be noted that late night firing on Tuesday and Thursday evening will finish at 2100hrs.
Safety: The public should be aware that tank crossings over the A360, A345, A338, B390, and the C22 (Tilshead to Chitterne) roads will be very busy and if conditions are wet mud clearance parties will be working on the crossings. Notice is also given that the training areas in the Copehill Down and Bourne Valley (SPTA East) areas will be heavily used over this period and that recreational use of the Salisbury Plain military lands is to be restricted to public rights of way only as per the byelaws.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO REDUCE CRIME ON SALISBURY PLAIN?
If any crime is taking place call 999, (or 101) and do not under any circumstances challenge the offenders.
The new Rural Crime Partnership for Wiltshire and Swindon (hereafter ‘the Rural Crime Partnership’) has been established by Wiltshire Police in consultation with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Wiltshire and Swindon to provide governance for, and oversee delivery of, rural crime strategy. It provides coherence, direction and guidance to the delivery and apportionment of rural policing resources across the county in the context of the Community Policing Model. The first meeting was held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters on 18th October 2016; this is seen by Headquarters SPTA as a positive initiative in order to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour on Salisbury Plain.
